Flagstaff Family YMCA
Valley of the Sun YMCA
A model for northern Arizona building, this popular 20,000 square-foot community center was constructed in phases through both winter and summer monsoon seasons on a site that is heavily forested, significantly sloped, and contains substantial amounts of basalt bedrock. Phase I of this project included extensive site work through dense vegetation which included a major extension
of the Flagstaff Urban Trail System. Phase II included the construction of the facility’s Member Child Care Center, Public Day Care Center, Multi- Purpose Gymnasium, Climbing Wall, Aerobics and Spinning Studios, Wellness/Fitness Area, Technology Learning Center, and Locker Rooms.
This project was awarded “Honorable Mention” in the Architectural Design category by Engineering News Record (ENR) Southwest Contractor magazine in their Best of 2010 competition.
