Flagstaff Family YMCA
Valley of the Sun YMCA
Project Delivery Method: Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR)
The Flagstaff YMCA project demonstrates Loven Contracting’s understanding of Northern Arizona’s weather and geology conditions. Constructed in two phases through both winter and summer monsoon seasons, the 20,000SF community center is on a heavily forested, significantly sloped site that contains substantial amounts of basalt bedrock. Phase 1 of the project required extensive work through dense rock and vegetation, an extension of the nearby Flagstaff Urban Trail System, and the preservation of native trees, per the client’s request.
Phase 2 of the Flagstaff Family YMCA included the construction of the Member Child Care Center, Public Day Care Center, Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, Climbing Wall, Aerobics and Spinning Studios, Wellness/Fitness Area, Technology Learning Center, and Locker Rooms, enabling the facility to offer a wide range of services to the Flagstaff, Arizona community.
This project was awarded “Honorable Mention” in the Architectural Design category by Engineering News Record (ENR) Southwest Contractor magazine in their Best of 2010 competition.
