This Linear Accelerator (LINAC) is phase two of the newly built Prescott Cancer Center, serving patients in Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, and Dewey-Humboldt. The facility features 4-foot-thick vault walls to shield against high-energy radiation used during cancer treatment. The roof’s 6 feet of concrete prevent radiation, also known as skyshine, from scattering back down. This highly technical project navigates coordination logistics with an active cancer center. Work during preconstruction enables the field team to precisely coordinate the slab and walls with electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring alignment with the owner’s long-term use of the facility.
