Downtown Connection Center – In Progress

Location

Flagstaff, Az

Flagstaff’s newest transit hub which has a Gold Level Rating from the Coconino County Sustainable Building Program, is only the 2nd CLT/mass timber structure in Arizona.

The 20,938 SF Downtown Connection Center (DCC) will operate as the new operations and office space for Mountain Line, Flagstaff’s transit entity. At completion, the project will include a community room designed to serve the public, lobby and restroom space for bus patrons, and office spaces. The entire building is electric-service only with a design for future photovoltaics.

Once complete, the project will be the second CLT/mass timber project in the state of Arizona and the only in northern Arizona.

Built on an active transit hub and on the corner of two main streets, site safety was top priority. Site safety considerations include complete segregation of construction and transit hub activities, the installation of a temporary driver break room/comfort station outside of the work area, daily coordination with Mountain Line operations regarding ongoing construction activities, and coordination with the City of Flagstaff, APS, Unisource, and ADOT for utility relocation.
