Strategic Facility Upgrades for Improved Visitor Experience
The Meteor Crater Visitor’s Center is a truly unique experience in the desert of Northern Arizona. Through strategic upgrades to their Philip Johnson-designed facility, the project owners have significantly improved both visitor and staff experiences. Key to the success of this project were uninterrupted operations, maintaining the revenue streams for this key employer.
Indoor Ticketing Center for an Upgraded Experience
The original ticketing windows for this attraction were located outdoors – foul weather or high winds had a significant impact. Loven Contracting worked with the design team to enclose the original ticketing area in a new welcome lobby, sheltering guests from sun and snow alike.

METEOR CRATER MULTI-PHASE REMODEL
Loven Contracting completed a 3,000SF addition in conjunction with the Meteor Crater Natural Landmark‘s Visitor Center’s interior and exterior renovations in Winslow, Arizona. Originally designed by renowned architect Phillip Johnson and constructed at the site of a meteor impact berm in 1961, the revitalized visitor center features a contemporary lobby, reception area, gift shop, and a retail and ticketing center. Additional hardscape and landscaping enhancements were included to improve visitor circulation.
Loven Contracting developed management and safety plans that allowed for minimal impact on business functions and visitor experiences. Meteor Crater remained open to the public throughout the entire project, enabling visitors to this Northern Arizona landmark to enjoy the site unimpeded.
